Overview and Purpose
StarRez is the divisional system for residential housing, package tracking, service desk loans, conferences and related billing. It replaces the previous systems of RMS Mercury (housing), Service Portal (service desk system) and Kinetic (conferences).
Environment
StarRez is a fully web-based application. There are both online and mobile options for the system. It is used by the following departments: Housing Assignments Office, Business and Financial Services, University Conference Services, Breslin Conference Services, service centers in the residence halls and apartments, Residence Education, RHS Facilities and Digital Strategies and Services.
Before You Begin
Access to the system must be requested by an Authorized Requester using a DSS Employee Access request form (formerly known as the ARF).
Instructions and Information
- Production system: (StarRez WEb) msu.starrezhousing.com/StarRezWeb
- Note: This is the same system for both housing and conferences. Permissions are configured so you only see the records (or entries) that pertain to your role.
- Development system: (StarRez Dev) msu.starrezhousing.com/StarRezWebdev (requires Virtual Private Network connection if you are off campus)
- Important note: Before you can log in to the "dev" site for training or testing, you must first log into the development system for multi-factor authenticaion

- Portal X: (Resident portal for sign up and housing management) msu.starrezhousing.com/StarRezPortalX
- Portal E: (Site for conference attendees to register and request event amenities or add-ons)
- Mobile connection and settings: Departmental tablets and devices can be configured to connect to the StarRez Mobile app for a limited set of features like entry look up and check in or out. The device must be configured by Digital Strategies and Services.
