Spartan Mail: Configuring Outlook for Mac

Overview

While Mac computers are not part of standard workstation deployments for RHS Digital Strategies and Services team members, these devices are approved for certain departments, such as Creative Services. The instructions below will help you configure Outlook for Mac to connect to your Spartan Mail account on MacOS computers.

Configuring Outlook for Mac

  1. Open the Finder on your Mac, navigate to "Applications" on the left side of the window, and open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. When opening Outlook on a Mac that you have not signed in to previously, you will see the welcome screen below. Enter your full MSU email address (e.g: NETID@msu.edu) and choose "continue".
  3. You will be prompted to verify your credentials, choose "password" and enter your primary MSU NetID account password.
  4. After entering your password, a two-factor authentication prompt will then appear. Choose your preferred method and enter the two-factor authentication code to complete your login.
  5. After finishing the two-factor authentication, the sign-in process is complete. Outlook will now open automatically, displaying your Spartan Mail email account, along with a privacy notice. Choose "done" on the privacy notice, and you can now begin to access your MSU email within Microsoft Outlook on your Mac.
