Transact System Overview
The Transact system (formerly Blackboard Transact) allows Residential & Hospitality Services locations to accept MSU ID Cards for authorized access to events or for payment in business operations. Students have the convenience of using one card for many things – from Dining Plans, to Spartan Cash purchases in vending machines, Transact makes it possible. Swipe a card in a reader, get a lightning fast response!
The system holds card information, customer information and details of any accounts or plans assigned to a cardholder. Currently, RHS uses Transact, along with Cloud Point of Sale (formerly Sequoia) to run register or reader devices and reports. These two systems partner together to offer convenience to staff and customers.
Logging In and Training
- An Access Request Form (ARF) must be submitted on your behalf by a unit authorized requestor before you can use Transact.
- Login, access, navigation and further training steps are provided in the user guide on MyRHS.
- See the document library of this site for more details.
Troubleshooting Login Issues
- You must log in to Transact every 90 days to keep your login active. Otherwise it will get locked due to inactivity. So set a reminder on your calendar if you don't log in very often. If you get locked, contact the Spartan Cash info line at the number listed below.
- Make sure you are connected through the campus Virtual Private Network (VPN).
- Find and launch the Transact app (must be installed on an RHS computer).
- Use the server address detailed in the user guide.
- Transact uses its own authentication so make sure to use your MSU NetID as your login and your unique Transact password.
- You may need to attempt launching the app and logging in multiple times before it works.
- After these steps if you receive an Error Message 85, try restarting your computer.
- For password assistance or help troubleshooting, call the Spartan Cash info line at 517-355-CASH (2274).
